Archana Aroor, Mumbai
In tune with the state’s glorious tradition of art and culture, the Rajasthani Food Festival organised at Grand Sarovar Premier Hotel, Mumbai, recently, had on offer a delightfully rustic ambience and deliciously enticing food.

The festival was inaugurated by Ajoy Balakrishna, GM, Grand Sarovar Premier, along with Gary Richardson, a theatre person, and Viveck Shettyy, MD, Indus Communications, Mumbai.

Bharath Uniyal, kitchen manager, Grand Sarovar Premier, explained to FnB News that the festival was basically to promote Rajasthani delicacies and also for those who wanted to get the real taste of it.

Apart from the soups and wide range of salads on offer, the highlights of the festival included delicacies such as kachoris, Banjara ki Ghatte ki Sabzi, Gawar ki Sabzi, Gatte ki Kadhi, Murg ke Suley, and Lal Maas, authentically prepared by an expert, specially flown in from Rajasthan for the occasion. Thandai, a special drink, made of buttermilk, milk and sugar was the surprise package and became an instant hit with the gourmets.

“Rajasthanis consume less of non-veg than veg and the cuisines are generally prepared with less of water and ingredients,” informed Uniyal.

While the festival, in general, found many takers for its traditional touch, the last day, in particular, saw many celebrities including Surabhi fame Siddharth Kak and his better half Geeta visiting it. Chef Raj Maharaj personally attended to them and ensured that nothing but the very best was served to these foodies.

Other celebrities who also made it a point to drop in were Manmeet Gulzar, lyricist; Umaesh Pherwani, stand-up comedian; and Longines Fernandes, choreographer.
