Bejois, a non-carbonated fruit drink from Jagdale Foods, the consumer division of Jagdale Industries Limited, is the most popular beverage in Karnataka preferred for its quality and taste. The product, which was launched in 1986, is a natural fruit drink. It is available in three flavours- mango, grape and guava. 'Mango' scores high on the consumer preference list with grape and guava following behind it. The product is produced at Mysore at the company's own fully automatic state-of-the-art Tetra Pak plant which was acquired from Godrej Foods.

"The brand name 'Bejois' became a family favourite in an incredibly short span of time and it is in great demand during the summer months," stated Nagaraja Rao R Jagdale, chairman and managing director, Jagdale Industries Limited. Despite stiff competition from manufacturers in the niche market of fruit nectar drinks and synthetic soft drinks, the company could easily establish an identity of its own in the market place mainly due to its ability to develop an innovative quality product and sales expertise.

Bejois is priced at Rs 10 per 200ml pack. The product is available throughout Karnataka and major cities in south India. The competitors are Frooti from Parle Agro , Maaza from Coca Cola group and Jumpin from Godrej Foods. Beverage market sources point out that Bejois has the potential to give volumes because it is popular for its product quality, taste, and regular availability in retail outlets.

The current trend in the fruity beverage market is that customers are demanding a shift from Tetra Pak and showing greater preference for transparent packing options, for instance, small -medium -sized PET bottles, according to beverage market sources.
