Vedic Pac-Systems Pvt. Ltd, in association with The German Engineering Federation, VDMA, was the chief architect for the Bakery & Snack Extrusion Technology Day, a first-of-its-kind event, that was held at the Trident, BKC, Mumbai, recently. The event was a platform to present and showcase the latest technology/development from leading European companies, to the Indian bakery & snack extrusion industry.

With the dynamic market scenario, India has always been looked upon as one of the most important markets in the world to do business. This makes it evident that the number of German companies continue to test the Indian soil and today VDMA has more than 550 member companies in India.

The event included seven international speakers all partnered by Vedic in India. The presentations were structured in line with a typical work flow within a bakery/snack factory. Nirav Sampat, MD, Vedic Pac-Systems, welcomed and addressed the 30 guests with a short introduction to the speakers.

She mentioned about the most important trading partner for Germany being USA with a share of more than 1,000 million Euro for the year 2013-14, followed by the United Kingdom and China. India belongs to the most important trade partners of Germany in Asia and stands third in ranking at 6.5% after China and Republic of Korea. The most important trading partner for India is China (that has grown in 2014 vs 2013), followed by Germany and then Japan in third position.

In 2014, manufacturers exported machinery and equipment worth 3.8 billion Euros, which corresponds to a share of total exports of 48%. During the period from 2009 to 2013, German exports to India grew continuously and reached a volume of 132 million Euro in 2013.

It was understood that in 2014, exports declined for the first time. German manufacturers exported food processing and packaging machines to India with a value of 94 million Euro – a decrease of nearly one-third compared with 2013.
