IG International Pvt. Ltd, one of the leading names in fresh fruits import and export in the country, launched Fremont Mandarins, an oranges like fruit, from Australia for the first time in India at a function held here recently. The offering would be imported from Ironbark Citrus, a renowned grower of Mandarins in Queensland, Australia.

The special guest for the launch was Rabin Bar, artist. He performed live, painting the logo of IG International.

Speaking at the launch, Susan Jenkin,  CEO, Ironbark Citrus, said,  “The Indian fresh fruit market is one of the world’s fastest growing markets. We are delighted to partner with IG International to promote our product in India. Our premium mandarins are extremely popular throughout the world and are sold in many countries. We are confident that India will become an important market for this wonderful fruit.”

She described the fruit thus, “She is very beautiful in her deep orange skin and has an intense flavour. She is very hygienic, naturally packaged.”

Tarun Arora, director, IG International Pvt. Ltd, said, “Mandarins are really wonderful fruits, belonging to the citrus family. They are very low in calories and widely regarded as one of the important ‘cleansing’ fruits. Two small mandarins supply 35% of the daily recommended requirement of Vitamin C. They are very popular throughout the world today.”

As part of the launch, chef Vinod Gard of SiD Hospitality (P) Ltd explained how to cook mandarins. He pointed out that varieties of food like sauces and cheese cake can be made from mandarins.

Interestingly, he informed that the orange cheese cake made by him for the launch had no added sugar. He explained, “The mandarin itself has a very intense flavour and sweetness. There was no need to add more sugar for taste.”
