Symphony Ltd, the leading player in evaporative air coolers, is now looking to increase its presence in the food and beverage industry in the country.

The company has already installed its air coolers at various FMCG and food companies including Nestle, Marico, Anmol Bakers, and JJ Bakers.

According to the company, its American subsidiary IMPCO was the world’s first cooler manufacturing company, which patented the cooling technology, called ‘Evaporative Cooling.’ It is one of the largest global manufacturers of industrial and commercial air coolers. Right now Symphony has an over Rs 1,100 crore market capitalisation. For the year ended June 2012, the company posted PAT (profit after tax) of Rs 53 crore on turnover of Rs 320 crore.

Achal Bakeri, CMD, Symphony Ltd, told FnB News, “The need for air cooling definitely exists in the food industry, however, most companies end up opting for locally assembled industrial air coolers and face a lot of problems like rusting and non-performance among others. Our industrial coolers are made in a state-of-the-art plant in the US where stringent production norms are adhered to which enables us to deliver a well-engineered, modular and long-life air cooler.”

He added, “In order to get the best of the Indian F&B sector we have already developed models which we will be introducing soon, these machines will have high efficiency filters that will provide dust-free environment.”

According to him, research shows that productivity and accuracy at workplace goes down drastically as temperatures increase. In critical industries like food, there is need to provide comfortable temperatures at workplace to enhance productivity levels. But the issue is that there is lack of awareness on industrial cooling systems and also no branded player in the category. With Symphony entering the industrial cooling segment, the industries can now rely on a global name and be assured of required quality and performance.

Bakeri stated, “Currently, Symphony is the only branded player with nationwide presence. All Symphony products are made of automotive steel with 7-stage powder coating and industrial coolers are made as modular units. There is no competition as the only other option for food industries is to go for locally assembled machines which are inefficient and with poor workmanship.”

He signed off, “We have made a good beginning in the food industry and are very confident that with such good examples we will have many companies to offer the air coolers in the coming years. Recent trend indicates that big businesses across various sectors are opting for industrial cooling for spaces, which are difficult to centrally air condition. Further shifting to air cooling for commercial and offices, retail and hospitality industry over air conditioning has helped big time in saving costs to the companies as air coolers use 90% less energy than an air conditioners.”
