The 5th edition of the Bakery Business Show, organised by Hospitality First, was formally inaugurated at 10 am on December 8, at World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. The three-day tradeshow is dedicated to the Indian bakery industry, mainly technology, ingredients, raw materials and baking devices. About 100 national and international exhibitors, including those from Australia, France, Japan and Taiwan, are demonstrating their state-of-the-art products to eager delegates. Thousands of visitors have thronged the exhibition stalls on the first day with the exhibitors entertaining them with cookies, chocolates and cream cakes.
Pradeep Gopalan, director, Hospitality First, said, “This time we have doubled the size of the venue. Regular exhibitors like AB Mauri have enlarged their stalls size which make the show even bigger. Last year we had about 60 exhibitors.”
Other leading exhibitors are Roquette, Apple Bakery Machineries, Ruchi Soya, Orange Foodstuff Equipment, Dabon from France, Australian Pan Company, among others.
“We have tie-up with several companies across India which helps us promote Californian Prunes but events like Bakery Business help us meet various manufactures and make them aware about prunes,” said Dhruv Sood, regional manager – SCS AgriBusiness Consultants Pvt. Ltd, representative of California Prunes Board.
Another exhibitor, Milind Umredkar, director – Orange Foodstuff Equipment Pvt. Ltd, said, “On not-for-profit basis, we are offering basic range of bakery equipment at Rs 99,000 only. This will help new aspirants to set up their own bakery units and help us get new customers.”
The exhibition also encompasses a live bakery theatre by exhibitors, a knowledge colloquium by Roquette, seminars and the 2nd edition of the Indian Bakery & Pastry Challenge (IBPC).
The Bakery Business show has become Mecca of the Indian bakery industry. This was stated by an excited bakery student Jayesh Dhshora. “With about 100 national and international companies displaying an array of products, I must say the Bakery Business show is the best source of getting up-to-date knowledge on global and national bakery industry,” Dhshora said.
Dhshora is a student of Mumbai-based Atharva College which offers diploma in bakery and also practical training after completion of the course.
