Buhler India takes sorting technology to new heights

Sortex Limited, a Buhler group company is the world leader in the area of colour sorting for rice (long, medium & short grain), cereal grains & seeds, coffee, beans, pulses & nuts, fruits & vegetables, spices & snack foods, and cereal flakes.

Since the introduction of the revolutionary Z series by Sorter, which transformed the optical sorter and took sorting technology to new heights of sophistication, the equipment has become the standard offering for food processing sector.

The Sortex Z+ offers improved productivity, lower running costs and higher yields with less wastage, easier maintenance and a host of other features designed to impact running cost and maximise profit margin of millers, stated Sujit Pandey, business development manager, Buhler India.

The 140 year-old Buhler is present in 140 countries with more than 6,400 employees worldwide. The company is a pioneer and leader in rice and flour mills. The Indian operations commenced in 1992, with its base at Attibele, near Bangalore with an initial investment of Rs 6 crore. The company has around 200 personnel operating out of its facility here. Its sales offices are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad,

Jalandhar and Raipur. The Indian operations is headed by Dipak Mane. Buhler is primarily recognised as a leading supplier of equipment for rice milling, flour milling, colour sorting, animal feed technology, oil milling and die casting systems.

The Buhler production facility at Attibele near Bangalore manufactures the main rice milling machines along with the control systems, aspiration equipment and accessories. It is also is also engaged in production of cleaning section equipment, milling section machines, control systems and aspiration equipment required by the flour milling industry. In a recent expansion to double the capacity by 50%, Buhler invested Rs. 5.8 crore. The facility also provides supply solutions to neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma and Sri Lanka.

In the field of rice milling machines, Buhler India provides complete plant and equipment which has capacity of above two tons per hour. This machine also has cleaning/grading sections for pulses, seed spices, etc.

For flour mills, the company can provide complete plant and equipment including engineering, erection and commissioning services. The same service can be offered to starch plants (dry process) and milling of maize, oats, millets and barley.

Further the company also offers animal feed technology. Equipment solutions are provided to feed industries like Poultry, Cattle, Aqua, Pet food and Pre-mixes. Buhler can design, supply, erect and commission feed mills or equipment parts for mash, pelleted or crumbled feed, or a combination of the three, stated Pandey. Buhler is a global market leader in grain milling, conveying and grading of grain, chocolate production, pasta production, PET process, paints and inks production and die casting.
