Ketan Thakkar, Mumbai
Rajeev Potnis, Director, Marks Ten Equipment (India) Pvt. Ltd., the leading kitchen equipment manufacturer has climbed the ladders of success in a short span of time. Marks Ten, amongst the top five majors in Indian market, supplies its equipment to almost all the segments of hospitality industry ranging from hotels, restaurants, flight-kitchens, hotel institutes to industrial and office canteens. It even offers its gears to hospitals, clubs and gymkhana and shipyard and ship builders. Its impressive clientle includes bigwigs like Taj, Oberio, Holiday Inn, Le Meridian, Oberio Flight Services, Sahara India etc.

Marks Ten manufactures equipment and caters to various sections of kitchen, from storage, pre-preparation and preparation, pantry, bakery to dish washing. The company is slated to expand its manufacturing facilities by three fold within a year. Rajeev Potnis believes the main reason for success is efficient and timely after-sales service. "Being a service oriented industry, factors like cost estimates, timely delivery and after sales service is very crucial to us; this is the reason why we are positioned amongst the top five," said Potnis.

Although competition gets stiffer each day, Potnis is not deterred about it. "Everyday new entrants crop up like mushrooms, but that does not bother us. We have been providing excellent quality and timely service which gives us an edge against our competitors," said Potnis. With regard to the support from government, Potnis preferred to be modest and said, "There is not much of the government support, but honestly speaking we should blame ourselves as we do not have a proper association or an organ through which we can put our grievances in front of the government authorities."
