Uma Exports begins pulse manufacturing operations at facility in Navi Mumbai

Uma Exports has launched its pulse manufacturing operations at a leased facility in Navi Mumbai. Having completed its trial run, the facility is now fully operational, adding an annual production capacity of 36,000 MTPA. This significant development marks its strategic transition from a pure trading model to value-added manufacturing, reflecting the company's long-term vision to cater to the rising domestic demand for processed pulses

The entire project has been funded through internal accruals, requiring no external investment. The company, which has traditionally built a strong reputation in the B2B trading of agricultural commodities like sugar, spices, food grains, tea, pulses, and agro feed ingredients, is now broadening its operations. This broader integration into processing not only enhances supply chain efficiency but also allows it to offer higher value-added agri-products.

This venture marks its initial foray into processing and is expected to contribute to its revenues by the fourth quarter of FY26. The Navi Mumbai plant is part of a broader, structured capacity expansion plan. It is also developing two additional facilities: a 50,000 TPA plant in Surat, Gujarat, and a 55,000 TPA plant at Jalan Industrial Complex, Howrah, West Bengal. These strategically located plants are scheduled to commence operations over the next two financial years and will serve both domestic markets and key export destinations including East Africa, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Through this expansion, it aims to optimise logistics, improve margins, and establish a stronger presence in both domestic and international markets, effectively advancing its shift towards value-added agri-products.
