Summit promotes cold chain industry with networking and technical knowhow

fiogf49gjkf0d The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI), jointly organised the third edition of the National Cold Chain Summit 2016, in Lucknow, recently. The summit was organised in promotion of the cold chain market and allied services in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The summit gave an opportunity to entrepreneurs and existing players in the food processing and cold chain sectors to understand the scope of business opportunities for cold storage, cold transport and cold supply chain in Uttar Pradesh.
The inaugural session started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp with the presence of Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, minister of state for food processing industries, who was the chief guest of the event. Others present included Mool Chand Chouhan, minister for horticulture & food processing, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Anuradha Prasad, joint secretary from MoFPI; Nivedita Verma Shukla, principle secretary from department of horticulture & food processing, Government of Uttar Pradesh. A research paper on Cold Chain Market and Services in Uttar Pradesh was also released at the summit.
The event extended an opportunity to network with peers and business associates during the multiple breaks. The Session One addressed opportunities available to set up cold chain facilities and was much appreciated by all those present as it was presented by many top-notch leaders from the industry.
Jyoti said, “The summit will certainly open up many opportunities for the growth of the sector. The present government vows to provide all the support required for the accelerated growth of the food processing industry.”
The Session Two dealt with the technology and regulatory needs of the industry while the third session was an eye-opener with stories of success and entrepreneurship which drew a large crowd too. Chauhan said that the summit had provided a great platform to discuss issues, bottlenecks and strategies required for the growth of the food processing industry. Uttar Pradesh is an ideal place to catapult the success story of the industry related to food processing because of many demographic advantages.
The technical session had stakeholders and experts from the government and industries who gave their insights and observation to the industry. Among several key personnel present at the event who shared their experience before the industry were Krishna Kumar Gupta, special secretary of dairy development and additional milk commissioner; N K Suri, chief director-cold storage from National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC); A K Panda, chief from NABARD; Kuldeep Kumar Ganju; S C Yadav, member secretary, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board; Vijay Bahadur Yadav, assistant commissioner of food safety, department of food safety & drug administration, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Bharat Revar, director, Natural Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd; Sachin Kumar, deputy general manager, Rinac India Ltd; Harshal Surange, CEO and director, ACR Project Consultants Pvt. Ltd; Deepak Avhad, partner, SaiKrupa Industries; Haresh Karamchandani, CEO, Asandas & Sons; and CA Hemant Singhal, partner, Rajshree Milk Products.
Meanwhile, the summit witnessed vast participation from within the state as well as from other states like Gujarat, Assam, and Haryana and international participation from the US embassy.
