Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd, a rapidly growing agri-tech enterprise dedicated to sustainable rural transformation, has announced the appointment of Damini Bisht as co-founder. Bringing over a decade of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, and regulatory law, Bisht offers a distinctive combination of legal expertise and deep operational understanding of rural ecosystems. Her background positions her to play a pivotal role in driving its mission to democratise renewable energy access across India.
A gold medallist in corporate law and a recognised voice in sustainable development, Bisht has been instrumental in reshaping how clean energy is governed, delivered, and scaled in India. Her appointment marks a significant step forward in its mission to decentralise renewable energy and make it a powerful engine of economic empowerment across India’s rural landscape.
Utkarsh Gupta, founder and CEO, Kisani Urjaa, said, “Damini’s arrival is a pivotal moment for Kisani Urjaa. Her unique ability to integrate legal expertise with on-ground understanding brings a powerful lens to our mission. With her clarity, compassion, and strategic depth, I am confident we will accelerate our goal of transforming over 10,000 villages into self-reliant, clean energy ecosystems. Damini’s leadership will not just drive scale, it will deepen our impact, ensuring every village we touch is empowered with dignity, resilience, and opportunity.”
Bisht will spearhead strategic partnerships, policy alignment, and rural implementation, helping the company move closer to its vision of enabling source of income opportunities for over 1 million farmers by 2030. Her work will focus on building inclusive rural biomass energy models that integrate community-based systems and promote female leadership in clean tech through women-led cooperatives and locally driven procurement networks.
“I’m honoured to join Kisani Urjaa at a time when rural India stands at the crossroads of opportunity and climate urgency. This platform was born out of the realisation that India’s energy challenge isn’t just technical, it’s deeply social. Clean energy should not only light homes but uplift lives. I’m here to ensure farmers, women and youth are at the centre of this transformation, not as beneficiaries, but as co-creators of a more equitable, sustainable economy.” said Bisht.
