Kelachandra Coffee, India’s largest privately-held coffee plantation company, is participating at World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta, held from May 15 to 17, at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC), Indonesia. As the first World of Coffee event hosted in a coffee-producing Asian nation, this landmark showcase offers the company a global stage to highlight India’s rise as a powerhouse in specialty coffee, driven by sustainability, innovation, and unparalleled quality.

With Indian coffee exports exceeding $1.54 billion, marking a 40% increase compared to $1.10 billion in the same period of the previous year and growing international acclaim for its specialty segment, the company will present its Rainforest Alliance-certified, shade-grown coffees from 15 estates spanning over 6,300 acres in the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats. Through cupping sessions, sustainability panels, and direct engagement at its booth, the company aims to redefine perceptions of Indian coffee and foster partnerships with global roasters, buyers, and enthusiasts.

Neleema Rana George, head of coffee works and technology at Kelachandra Coffee, said, “India has entered an exciting new era in coffee, moving beyond commodity production to become a serious contender in the specialty segment. At World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta, we’re proud to showcase the richness, diversity, and innovation of our shade-grown, ethically cultivated beans, which reflect our commitment to quality, traceability, and environmental stewardship—values that resonate deeply with today’s global consumers.”

Ryana Kuruvilla, people and culture at Kelachandra Coffee, said, “Over the past year, we've taken our shade-grown, hand-harvested Indian coffee across the globe. As we head to Jakarta, we’re excited to showcase how biodiversity and timeless farming traditions come together in our estates to create something truly exceptional.”

Sustainability is the cornerstone of Kelachandra’s mission. Its shade-grown cultivation preserves biodiversity, reduces soil erosion, enhances carbon sequestration, and provides livelihoods for farming communities, with a workforce that is 55% female. The company’s estates serve as models for climate-resilient agriculture, integrating regenerative practices that balance productivity with environmental responsibility.

Rishina Kuruvilla, head of CSR and sustainability at Kelachandra Coffee, said, “Sustainability isn’t just about responsible farming—it’s about cultivating ecosystems that can thrive for generations. Across our 15 Rainforest Alliance-certified estates, we are deeply committed to nurturing biodiversity, conserving water, and uplifting local communities through agroforestry and ethical sourcing. Our adherence to the EDUR (Ethical & Directly Uplifting Relationships) principles ensures that our coffee is grown without deforestation, respects workers' rights, and creates lasting positive impact. We’re also fully aligned with the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). At World of Coffee 2025, we’re proud to showcase how Indian coffee is setting new benchmarks in sustainable agriculture.”
