Disrupting billions of lives and creating unprecedented crises across the world, Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world in its entirety. The impact of Corona virus has heightened the issue of hunger that prevails in our society and has created a major humanitarian problem across the country. With an economic slowdown, corporates have a critical role to play, not only by addressing key societal needs but also by becoming a contributor in taking care of their local community.

Sunil Kapur, through his K Corp Charitable Foundation, aims to address the larger problem of hunger by providing meals to those in need through the Robin Hood Army’s #Mission30M initiative. The foundation has provided 5,00,000 meals to Robinhood Army, in addition to the 10,00,000 plus meals it served during the lockdown to front line workers, migrant workers, and others across cities, through the group’s Karuna Seva initiative.

The group is one of the leading hospitality groups In India and home to some well-known brands. With restaurants serving meals through the lockdown and lending their support during these unprecedented times, it highlights how the sector is a positive contributor to the country despite being one of the worst crises to hit the industry.

New Delhi-based RHA is a volunteer-based organisation which aims to beat global hunger. It gets surplus food from restaurants to the underprivileged in cities across India and 12 other countries. It has approximately 58,000 volunteers, and claims to have served over 32.4 million people so far. According to the organisation, it reaches out to homeless families, orphanages, night shelters, homes for abandoned children, patients from public hospitals, etc., to help them beat hunger.

Sunil Kapur, chairman, K Corp Charitable Foundation, said, “Some partnerships are beyond commerce, it becomes a part of your purpose. This for us is one such collaboration. We are extremely proud we have been able to provide food to fight hunger and support the nation in this fight against the virus. #Mission30M is beyond just the act of providing a meal, it’s about serving smiles and spreading hope to the ones in need. We are extremely happy and proud to support the volunteers of Robin Hood Army who are true heroes for all of us.”
