Ini Farmshas been recognised among India’s Best Workplace by the Great Place to Work Institute. It is the first and only horticulture company in India to be certified by the institute.
The company has earned this recognition based on a rigorous assessment independently conducted by the institute for creating a Great Place to Work for all employees. It is a mid-size organisation that has 200 employees and works with over 300 indirect workforce.
The certification is granted based on a Trust Index Survey and a culture audit by the institute. Every year, more than 10,000 organisations from over 60 countries partner the institute for assessment, benchmarking and planning actions to strengthen their workplace culture. The Institute’s methodology is considered as the gold standard for defining great workplaces across business, academia and government organisations.
Speaking on receiving the GPTW certification, Purnima Khandelwal, chief executive officer, INI Farms, said, “We are deeply honoured to be certified as a great place to work. This certification is a reflection of the work culture at INI Farms and the dedication of our entire team who have worked hard even in this unprecedented pandemic situation. While the Covid-19 pandemic stress tested all organisations, our team stepped up their efforts to support our customers, business and community. This certification is dedicated to the entire INI Farms team that helped us achieve this.”
Agriculture has suffered from paucity of talent as it remained largely unorganised sector with little ability to attract good talent. The company is a pioneer in attracting top talent from institutions like IITs and IIMs, build a culture of meritocracy and respect, and provide growth opportunities. This is reflected in its various industry first initiatives: • It’s the first agriculture company to be led by a women CEO. Also, 2 of the 5 board members are women. Across the management and workforce, there is Equal pay for Equal work policy – encouraging more women workers to participate in joining farming sector. • The company has managed to transform males dominated activities in agriculture with women workers with more than 80 per cent women in the Fresh Cut and 60 per cent women work in Pomegranate packaging. • The company processes and policies meet global best practices and has passed through strict assessment from organizations like US DFC.
The company manages and controls the process right from growing to supplying the fruit across its distribution network. Stringent quality checks at Kimaye’s automated pack house ensure only the best quality fruits reach the end-consumers. Recently, the company announced its entry into e-commerce through the launch of its website, ‘Kimaye.com’. The company also rolled out a QR code based origin traceability feature for all its fruits in the international and domestic market under the technology program called ‘FruitRoute’.
