Grand Mercure Bangalore appoints veteran Verma as new executive chef

Grand Mercure Bangalore has appointed hospitality veteran Vibhav Verma as executive chef. In this role, Verma’s responsibilities principally include leading the culinary team at the hotel, developing creative menu ideas, recipes and spearheading menu engineering, price structuring, leadership management and more.
He holds over 14 years of skilled experience in the hospitality and culinary industry. Having begun his career with the Taj Group of Hotels, Resorts and Palaces as a chef trainee, he has worked with specialty chef to Soneva Gili Six Senses, Maldives and joined AccorHotels as executive chef at ibis Gurgaon.
Verma has completed his MBA in hospitality management from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Scotland, and is a graduate in hotel management from the University of Huddersfield in the United Kingdom.
Commenting on his appointment, Rayan Aranha, general manager, Grand Mercure Bangalore, said, “We are thrilled to have Verma at the helm of our culinary sector at the hotel.”
“He will be responsible for spearheading the operations and culinary teams of the property’s F&B outlets, 12th Main and By the Blue, which offer an exquisite and modern gastronomy experience to guests,” he added.
Verma enjoys travelling and listening to music during his time off. He has a keen interest in automobiles and has participated in various automobile rallies, one of them being the Tata Soul rally.
