FSSAI workshop aims at strengthening India's Codex competence

Aimed at strengthening India's Codex competence, Codex Contact Point at FSSAI organised a 3-Day workshop at the FSSAI headquarters here.
According to FSSAI, the workshop encouraged the officers to engage meaningfully with the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) & strengthen India's voice on global food standards and develop a holistic understanding of the CAC, its functioning, role and the importance of WTO-SPS/TBT.
According to a senior official of FSSAI, such workshop helps in regular knowledge enhancement and scaling up research for policy development in India, based on global best practices.
"It was also crucial in enhancing the capabilities of FSSAl's officers and strengthening India's engagement in the Codex work," the officer added.
The workshop included a mock drill on Codex Meeting, which simulates the Codex Committee.
