FSSAI suspends Reliable Labs for failing to comply with norms

The FSSAI has suspended Reliable Analytical Labs Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, which was recognised and notified by the food authority u/s 43(1) of FSS Act, for Chemical and Biological scope of testing and carrying out the analysis of food samples.
The lab was suspended for six months effective from May 8.
The FSSAI order in this regard says that the said laboratory has failed to comply with Regulation 9(1)(m)-Obligations of Food Laboratories of the Food Safety and Standards (Recognition and Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018, which states that it shall not make any misrepresentation or carry out any activity which may bring disrepute to the food authority.
"Thus, the aforementioned laboratory is hereby suspended with effect from 8th May 2024 from carrying out analysis of samples under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and Rules and Regulations made thereunder as per regulation clause 10(2) read with clause 10(1) (iv) and 10(1)(v) of the Food Safety and Standards (Recognition and Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018, for six months," reads the order.
