In an effort to solve the triple problems of hunger, malnutrition and food wastage, food-start-up Koolchas gave birth to Suspended Meals. Based on the Suspended Coffees movement that started in Norway, in 2013, it is now picking up pace in India as well. The programme was activated recently by Gaurav Bahl, co-founder, Koolchas, and Sunila Bahl, head chef, Koolchas.
The programme took off by offering 21 meals every day at each of their outlets that will be offered to the needy at zero cost.
The meals will be prepared fresh on a regular basis and that too different from the ones stated in the menu of the restaurant. The reason for including meals out of the pre-determined menu was to ensure that it ran as an initiative which emits love and sincerity. The whole programme will be funded by the source of Koolchas’ own funds, and the people are also invited to donate any amount.
Any donation will be considered as goodwill of the people in making this programme a success. While restaurants support the programme, what really matters are the individuals who want to make a difference and to eradicate hunger, positively impacting the lives.
There is a huge number of people who fail to put a proper meals on their plates. This underprivileged sector is more prone to health hazards which are a serious issue.
The programme aims to serve more than hundred of those underprivileged who are unable to feed themselves or their families. The belief to make all underdeveloped people consume as much food and nutrition as possible is what fuels this initiative taken by Koolchas.
