Eastern Masala invests Rs 30 crore in Bangalore to set-up ready-to-cook products

Eastern Condiments Pvt. Ltd, the Kerala-based curry powder and masala brands firm, has invested Rs 30 crore in Bangalore to set-up its production plant at the Bommasandra Industrial Area.
The company will manufacture its range of ready-to-cook segment products and will launch 12 products.
The annual capacity of the plant is 1500 tonnes to meet the domestic and export demand.
According to M E Meeran, chairman, Eastern Group of Companies, the company is expecting business from ready-to-cook products to the tune of Rs 105 crore in the first year.
The 12 products comprise different varieties of dal, a range of instant soups, batter mixes and a collection of speciality masalas.
"Besides the domestic market, these products would be exported to the Middle
East, US, UK and Australia," said the Eastern Group chairman.
According to Navas Meeran, vice-chairman, Eastern Condiments, the products launch was part of the company's strategy to become a full-fledged food company from being a spices and masala company in the last 25 years.
"The company would launch more products keeping in mind regional diversity," he said. In the second phase Eastern has planned to launch matka kulfi and matka kheer among others and more ethnic food varieties.
