Café Coffee Day barista Naman Kohli wins Platinum Award at NBC finals

fiogf49gjkf0d Café Coffee Day’s (CCD) barista Naman Kohli recently won the National Barista Championship held in Bengaluru. Kohli will now represent India with his award-winning concoction - Pixel - at the World Barista Championship to be held at Seattle in April 2015.
NBC is India’s leading coffee championship organised by the Coffee Board with the objective of promoting coffee culture and identifying technically skilled baristas. At the competition, baristas have to prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos and four signature drinks within 15 minutes which is judged based on four criteria – taste evaluation, beverage presentation, barista technique and personal presentation. Awards are given in seven categories: platinum, gold, silver, bronze, best signature drink, best Latte art and best communication skills.
At the NBC finals, Kohli walked away with the topmost Platinum Award. His signature brew ‘Pixel,’ was described by a veteran barista as “nothing short of the magical brews of Rome and Milan.”
Kohli joined CCD in 2013 starting with operations and moved on to learning & development. Here he received training in the art of coffee making and in devising new concoctions.
