International exhibitions events like drinktec, among others, are seen to bolster the growth of not just beverage companies in India, but packaging majors as well.

Since its inception in 1951, the event has been positioned as the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry processing, focused on processing, filling and packaging.

The 2017 essay, which was held over a five-day period at Messe München in Germany recently, was no different for the participants. Over 76,000 visitors and a record number of exhibitors from over 170 countries, notched up the best-ever result for the event.

The ratio of visitors from outside Germany (1,749 representing 80 countries) thus increased to 67 per cent of the exhibitors.

“This is the world’s most important innovation platform. This is the best drinktec ever,” said Reinhard Pfeiffer, deputy chief executive officer, Messe München, in view of these record figures.

For Volker Kronseder, president, advisory board, drinktec, and chairman, VDMA’s Beverage Machinery and Dairy Technology Association, the event was also extremely positive. “It will give the global beverage and food industry a major boost for the next four years,” he stated.

“drinktec once again surpassed our high expectations. We are over the moon at the international spread and expertise of the visitors. drinktec is a trend-setter. The visitors’ focus was on innovative solutions for tomorrow’s applications,” said Richard Clemens, managing director, VDMA’s Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association.

For the Bengaluru-based Manjushree Technopack Ltd too, participation in drinktec, Germany was a positive outcome.

The company displayed its latest range of PET preforms, including the introduction of four new neck finishes, including 26/22 neck finish for water, PCO 1881 version for Thick Neck for juices, 29/21 CTC neck finish for oil applications and 36/29 CTC neck finish for edible oil.

“With this, Manjushree offers the widest range of preforms – 100+ weight category preforms across 14 neck finishes. We also showcased our two-litre whisky bottle with a handle, which was introduced in the market along with United Spirits,” said Vimal Kedia, managing director, Manjushree Technopack.

“We received a fabulous response at the drinktec exhibition and witnessed over 500 unique visitors, and counted almost 200 of them as prospects for business,” he added.

“We are confident of gaining many customers with our aggressive approach and pricing,” Kedia said.

“The event also gave us an opportunity to meet up with vendor partners and discuss new and innovative packaging solutions, that can be subsequently offered to our consumers,” he added.

“We made the right choice of putting up a large booth and focusing our attention solely on these customers to meet many new and old customers,” Kedia said.

The company has an extensive export market, and is present in 25 countries. drinktec is a global meeting point of people from the trade, who participate in the event with the intention of purchasing and placing orders.
