This is the only exhibition of its kind to be held in Kerala, and over the years, it has been known to provide each visitor and stall holder with a unique and unparalleled experience in terms of networking, sales leads and knowledge.

“About 4,500 trade visitors are expected to visit this show, which will feature all facets of the food and beverage industry and include intricate details and the meticulous process that is required for food products in order to make them available to the consumer,” Kuriacose said.

“The exhibition will have a wide arena of categories related to the food processing and packaging industry. The visitors will benefit from seeing various machinery and equipment used for the processed food sector,” he added.

About 85 exhibitors are expected from all over India. The exhibitor profile includes companies engaged in food process technology, post-harvest technology, packaging technology and food and beverages.

Indian food industry
The Indian food industry is poised for huge growth, increasing its contribution to world food trade every year.

In India, the food sector has emerged as a high-growth and high-profit sector due to its immense potential for value addition, covering food products like fruits, vegetables, marine products, dairy products, etc.

As the demand for the processed food continues to increase around the world, the opportunities for industry to be a part of this sector has considerably increased.

Sector in Kerala
Kuriacose said, “Spices, a precious commodity, attracted many foreign merchants to the shores of India. Since Independence, Kerala has been a major exporter of spices, cashews, marine products, tea and coffee.”

“The state accounts for nearly 20 per cent of the country’s food exports. It has been the base from where the spice, cashew and marine export industries spread to other parts of the country,” he added.

The food processing
industry is regarded as a sunrise industry in Kerala, and the state has a fairly strong base of food processing industries.

This sector plays a major role in the economic development of the state, and various studies reveal that its contribution to output, value addition and employment increased during the recent years.

Kerala is blessed with bounty of agricultural produces like spices, coconut, rubber, coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper, areca nut and other hill products.

Considering the emerging markets for organic food, both domestic and international, the state has an enormous capacity to cater the market with quality products.

Given this background, the conference will focus on the important aspects concerning the growth of the food processing industry.

It will immensely benefit the food processing industry and will be an exclusive platform to interact and understand the important aspects of the food processing sector like food safety and regulatory trends, innovation and technology as an enabler to growth and other areas like branding, retail, storage, logistics, etc.

The participation at the conference will include senior officials from the government and regulatory bodies, chief executive officers of food companies, start-ups, technology providers, banks, other supporting agencies, etc.

Entrepreneurs and companies are requested to take advantage of the opportunity to attend the conference and visit the exhibition.

The seminar will cover a wide range of topics, including food safety, packaging and export guidelines, etc.
