fiogf49gjkf0d Italian wine maker, Casa Vinicola Zonin, which is known for Prosecco and other varieties of wines, is consolidating its presence in Indian markets by promoting wine culture in the country.
In this regard, Alessandro Guerini, brand representative and export manager, Casa Vinicola Zonin, was in Mumbai recently to push and promote his company’s wines. As part of the exercise, Aspri Spirits, distributor, Zonin wines in India, hosted an event for promotion and technical training among food and beverage managers from hotels and restaurants at Bandra, Mumbai.
Guerini stated, “The inclusion of surname in the brand name is a guarantee of quality by Zonin family to the consumers. We are here with our distributors in a mission mode to develop a market and promote Italian wines among Indian consumers. Though the brand is facing bureaucratic hurdles due to labelling issues and high taxation, the Indian market has a potential to become a big market for Italian wines as both demand and consumption are increasing consistently. Twelve different varieties of wines produced and processed by Zonin are available in most restaurants and hotels with a pan-India presence. Zonin family is very interested in the Indian wine market and looking forward to increased consumption and doing better business with India.”
India is one of the highly taxed countries for wines, which keeps companies away and makes imports difficult. Bureaucratic hurdles, including the recent labelling issues, have been accelerating the problems surrounding the wine trade in India. Compared to Western countries, Indian markets are still in a stage of developing a taste for wines. Though imported wines have presence in high-end hotels and restaurants, wines are yet to get a breakthrough and penetration among Indian consumers. With presence in more than 100 countries, Casa Vinicola Zonin rates India as a high potential market for wines, despite the hurdles.
Jackie Matai, director, Aspri Spirits, said, “Aspri Spirits has a very good trade relation with Zonin family since 2008. The demand for Italian wines is increasing in India due to its maturing culture. Imported wines have huge potential in India as both market and culture are evolving constantly. We are looking forward to a bright future with ever increasing demand for Italian wines. We are working constantly towards enhancing the market presence of Zonin wines across the country. The range of wines produced and processed by Zonin already has a pan-India presence and available at leading hotels, restaurants and retail outlets.”
