soft drink from Pepsi. Amul is all set to launch Stamina, India's first sports drink. The drink will be available in 200ml temper proof Tetra Pak and will have a shelf life of 120 days at room temperature. According to a pre-launch press release, the company claims that "Stamina is a tasty drink packed with essential minerals designed to tone up the body and avoid rundown conditions. It also helps build strong bones."

Stamina, the instant energy drink in lime 'n' lemon flavour, contains whey proteins (high quality sources of protein for every one), lactose, sucrose, glucose, minerals and vitamins. Whey protein contains alpha lactalbumin, which is the main component in human breast milk. Immunoglobulin and Lysozyme, contained in whey protein, provide immune-enhancing benefits to infants and others. Extended periods of exercise and stress in athletes can lead to fatigue and reduced physical performance. Whey proteins, particularly beta-lactoglobulin, is high in branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). Being easy to digest, they quickly provide the body with essential BCAAs, while the glucose provides instant energy. BCAAs and potassium help in repair and rebuilding lean muscle tissues that are broken down by exercise, says the press release.

Owing to the health benefits the whey drink imparts, it has been certified by the Apollo Hospitals as a health drink for all age groups and especially for sportsmen. Stamina supplies 112 Kacl of energy per pack of 200ml, and is priced at Rs12.
