Speaking about the launch, Dennis Koorey, country business, Mövenpick, Australia, states, “We are excited about our first boutique in Mumbai and believe that Mövenpick's Swiss style and super premium offering will be a perfect fit in Mumbai. The city has a certain flair and passion for the best which suits our brand and target audience. According to the company, its ethos is simple and perfectly encapsulated by founder Ueli Pregar, "We are not doing anything extraordinary. We are doing simple things in an extraordinary way." It is that philosophy that has positioned Mövenpick as the leading super premium ice cream brand in the world today. These stunning dessert creations can now be found in over 120 boutiques throughout Europe, Asia and Australia, and is served in five star restaurants and hotels in more than 40 countries around the world.

It added that all its products were processed in a natural manner and made without artificial flavourings or colours. From its inception, the company applied an “all natural” policy to its range of ice-creams. As a consequence, all its products are made in Switzerland without artificial additives, flavourings or colours.

With the launch of the boutique in Mumbai, the company is expanding on its established retail presence in Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. The boutique in Mumbai features a range of 24 ice cream & sorbet flavours, ice cream dessert creations, gourmet confectionery products, sundaes, shakes, and fat-free refreshments along with waffles and pancakes.

Tarun Sikka, MD, Star Foods Speciality, who has been instrumental in bringing Mövenpick to India, states, “We have plans to open around 50 ice cream boutiques in the next three years. The Indian super premium ice cream category is growing rapidly and our brand and offering is perfectly positioned to capitalise on this.”

The franchise owners in Mumbai, Sun N Star Gourmet Foods believe this is the right time for the Swiss brand to launch in Mumbai. Pooja Advani, director, Sun N Star Gourmet Foods, says, “We love Mövenpick for its gastronomic excellence. Every offering is a piece of art and simply delicious.”
