In a bid to increase its consumer base across the tea-love western state of Maharashtra, Wagh Bakri Tea Group – one of the largest private packaged tea companies in India – has launched a 1.5kg limited edition festive jar containing both the leaf and dust variants of the beverage. The container, made of food-grade PET, is air-tight, microwave-friendly, freezer-friendly and can easily fit onto kitchen shelves. It would be available between Navratri and Diwali.

Parag Desai, executive director, sales, marketing and international trade, said, “The demand for high-quality tea in Maharashtra has witnessed a steep rise, and our limited edition pack will play a pivotal role in meeting the festive demand of housewives in Maharashtra. The shape has been appreciated by housewives, who serve their guests the brew during the festive period. Moreover, the container can later be used for other purposes.”

“The people of Maharashtra love drinking tea, and we have successfully met the demand. Within a few years of our foray into the Maharashtra market, we have emerged as one of the most preferred tea brands in the state. Wagh Bakri Tea is available in each and every district of the state. Our aim is to double the number of distributors and retail outlets so as to reach out to more consumers in Maharashtra,” he added.

Elaborating on the company’s aggressive growth plans for Maharashtra, Paras Desai, executive director, said, “We have come across a significant rise in demand for premium dust tea in Maharashtra, and that is why we have introduced premium dust variants, especially for Maharashtra. We are hopeful of seeing a hike in demand for premium dust tea during festivals in Maharashtra, which would play a key role in our business in the state.”
