Prices of wheat, rice and sugar remained steady during July 25-August 1

fiogf49gjkf0d As per data monitored by the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, prices of wheat, rice and sugar during the week July 25-August 1, 2013, remained steady across the country.
During the period, prices of rice decreased at two centres, which were Delhi and Rajkot, but slightly increased at two centres - Agra and Bhagalpur.
Similarly prices of wheat decreased at two centres - Bhagalpur and Thiruvananthapuram and slightly increased at Bengaluru and Chennai.
During the period, decrease in prices of sugar was registered at four centres - Agra, Indore, Nagpur and Bengaluru while increase was seen at one centre - Dharwad.
The Price Monitoring Cell of the ministry regularly monitors prices of 22 essential commodities at 55 market centres for taking suitable action to keep the prices under check.
These commodities include rice, wheat, atta, gram dal, tur (arhar) dal, urad dal, moong dal, masur dal, sugar, gur, groundnut oil, mustard oil, vanaspati, sunflower oil, soya oil, palm oil, tea, milk, potato, onion and salt. Price datas are collected on daily basis from the state civil supplies departments of the respective state governments.
