With Covid protocols in place, Aahar 2021 off to a splendid start on April 6

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) will host its five-day long flagship event of food and hospitality industry - Aahar 2021 from April 6-10 in the newly built Halls of International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) and Hall 7 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The International Food & Hospitality Fair this year shall cover a gross area of 50,000 sq m, with over 600 participants from India and overseas including foreign participation from Afghanistan, Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Canada, Peru, the UK and USA.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols still applicable, ITPO has extended its appeal to all stakeholders to adhere to the guidelines of the Government of India on health, immunity and safety.

Aahar is organised by the ITPO with support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India and APEDA in association with apex trade bodies including All India Food Processors Association (AIFPA), Association of Resource Companies for Hospitality Industry of India (ARCHII), Federation of All India Caterers (FAIC), Food & Hospitality Support Association of India (FHSAI), Food Industries Welfare Associations (FIWA), Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI), Hotel and Restaurant Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (HOTREMAI), Federation of Indian Food & Hospitality Industry (FIFHI) and Indore Confectionery Manufacturers Association (ICMA).

According to the ITPO, the display profile is segregated into different categories in various halls namely, F&B Equipment (Hall 2, 3, 4 & 5 Ground Floor),  Food – Confectionery & Bakery Products Hall 2 (First Floor), Food-Process, Beverages, Ingredient, Agri Produce etc 3, 4 & 5 (First Floor), Hospitality & Décor Solutions and Packaging  Hall 7 (ABCDE), Heavy Bakery Equipment and Startup Pavilion Hall 7 (FGH), Mist, Cooler, Food Truck and Décor Hall 7 (Open area).

To make the event more meaningful, there will be industry related seminars and an exclusive ‘MICE Industry Unity Conclave’ is scheduled to be held during the currency of the event.

An exclusive ‘MICE Industry Unity Conclave’ (April 9, 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm by ITPO & the Exhibition Showcase, magazine) at Hall 5 (First floor, IECC, Pragati Maidan) while exclusive industry seminars by the Connecting Business Achievers, magazine with support of ITPO and apex trade bodies were also planned during the fair.  

Rajesh Agrawal, executive director, ITPO, told that this year too, a large number of trade visitors are expected to visit the fair. These include top echelons of the hotel and hospitality industry including CEOs, general managers, executive chefs, executive housekeepers, purchase managers and F&B managers. Besides, senior representatives from Centre and State Government, catering industry and academic institutions, hotel management professionals will also visit the fair.

He added that apart from getting an insight about the new initiatives, reforms and schemes of the government to the food and hospitality industry, the fair offers an ideal platform to the business fraternity to experience the latest trend, tastes and technologies, expand networking with the leading suppliers and manufacturers, connecting with decision makers, trade partners and distributors, and meet the valued buyers from around the world.

He said that the fair assumes tremendous significance especially when there is a focus of the Union Government to promote agri-community as well as MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) sector which complements the hospitality segment.

The fair will open from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm and the entry will be facilitated from Gate 4 (Bhairon Road) & Gate 10, (Supreme Court Metro Station).

Meanwhile, during the previous edition of Aahar in 2020 due to the ongoing redevelopment at Pragati Maidan, the Aahar fair was restricted to around 40,000 sqm gross area. The fair had participation from over 700 exhibitors including foreign exhibitors from the UK, USA, China, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Spain, Oman, South Korea, Thailand, the UAE, Peru, Norway, Indonesia, Canada, Tunisia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. The last edition of the show was visited by over 40,000 visitors.
