UK Poultry investor BPO acquires German processor Heidemark, strengthens European footprint
Monday, 23 February, 2026, 16 : 00 PM [IST]
London, UK
The owner of one of the United Kingdom’s largest private-label poultry producers has expanded its European poultry presence with the acquisition of German turkey and chicken processor Heidemark. The deal was struck by Ranjit Singh Boparan’s investment vehicle, Boparan Private Office (BPO), and is part of a broader strategy to grow operations across continental Europe.

Heidemark, a family-owned business headquartered in Ahlhorn, Lower Saxony, generates roughly €760 million a year in revenues and employs about 2,300 staff across five sites. The company will now become part of Storteboom Food Group, the European poultry division owned by BPO, but will continue to operate independently under its existing name with its leadership team intact, including CEO Andres Ruff.

Storteboom Food Group already has a footprint in the Netherlands, Poland and the Republic of Ireland, with annual sales of around €1.2 billion and approximately 3,500 employees. Integrating Heidemark into this network is expected to boost the group’s poultry processing capacity and widen its product offering across Europe. BPO said the acquisition complements its existing operations and aligns with its “Next Gen” strategy, which focuses on advanced automation, innovation, productivity improvements and achieving net-zero sustainability goals.

Both companies have confirmed that workers and management will be retained, with further investments planned to support growth in the German market. Heidemark’s current production sites will remain operational, providing continuity for both employees and customers.

The transaction remains subject to approval by the European Commission under competition law, with both parties expecting clearance within the statutory timeframe. Until formal approval is granted, the businesses will continue to operate independently.

The acquisition signals continued consolidation within the poultry sector and reflects strategic ambitions by BPO to build a stronger, more integrated poultry platform across key European markets.
