East Side Distillery, Goa, launches the world’s first-ever Indo-Japanese Gin, Doja. Creating a demand for premium homegrown gin, Jai Anand and Sanjiv Anand of Cedar Consulting are bringing to market a new wave of craft gin that is made with botanicals from India and Japan.

The gin-drinking culture has picked up across the world and evidently in India as well. The millennial audience today is exploring gin because it is a drink that is easy on the throat, refreshing, and can be had at different times of the day. Gin has been a great success at bars, is popular on social media, and is currently bursting with opportunities.

Anand wanted to bring to India a combination of flavours never heard before in Gin making. He worked along with a Distillery in Japan who brought to life a recipe that gives the taste of 2 cultures in a sip. Japan is known for immaculate craftsmanship, perfectionism, and attention to detail that reflects not only in its food and culture but is also translated into the unique flavours of its alcohol. What makes it unique is the use of Yuzu, sansho peppers, hinoki that is combined with coriander, pepper, and cardamom from India, These botanicals lend a citrus note.

Bottled and packaged in Goa, the artisanal small-batch gin is produced with the finest native botanicals from the rich lands of India and Japan's Wakayama prefecture.

Anand, said “As the gin culture picks up, the consumer’s taste profiles are also evolving. The millennials today are looking for homegrown premium options hence Doja was created to bring to the world an amalgamation of distinct flavours. With Doja we aim to be an experience-led brand and our approach is to explore venues and spaces that help define the aura of the brand. We want our consumers to savour the flavour and appreciate the concept of craft small-batch gin.”
