Swiggy launches ‘No Added Sugar’ category to promote mindful eating this festive season

Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform, has introduced a new ‘No Added Sugar’ category aimed at making healthy food choices easier and guilt-free during the festive season. The initiative allows users to explore over 1.5 lakh food items from 50,000+ restaurants across 10 major cities including Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune.

The category, launched under Swiggy’s food delivery service, offers two curated sub-categories — Naturally Sweetened and Not Sweetened. Consumers can now enjoy their favourite desserts and beverages such as ice creams, cakes, Indian sweets, tea, coffee, and smoothies, without worrying about added sugar. The Naturally Sweetened section includes items made with wholesome ingredients like dates, fruits, and purees — such as Date & Nut Smoothie, Banana Pancakes, and Fig & Almond Energy Bars — while the Not Sweetened section offers sugar-free options for tea, coffee, and juices.

The selection includes over 20,000 ice creams, 12,000 juices, 10,000 hot beverages, and 7,000 cakes, all formulated without free sugars like sucrose, jaggery, honey, or processed sweeteners. This aligns with modern nutrition and health standards, catering to India’s growing base of health-conscious consumers.

Commenting on the launch, Deepak Maloo, vice president – food strategy, customer experience & new initiatives at Swiggy, said,

“Mindful eating shouldn’t mean missing out. With the ‘No Added Sugar’ category, we’re helping customers enjoy their festive favourites without the guilt. We plan to expand this to more cities and add greater transparency by highlighting the source of natural sweeteners.”

Following its high protein category launched earlier this year, Swiggy continues to reinforce its position as a platform that promotes healthier, transparent, and convenient food choices for all.
