European high-performance film specialist Sudpack has expanded its suite of seafood packaging technologies with the launch of SKINPro and Multifol Extreme solutions, designed to meet the unique challenges of seafood perishability, shape irregularities and hygiene demands.
The new offerings aim to reduce food waste, extend product shelf life and improve supply chain efficiency for seafood processors and brands handling items such as salmon fillets, tuna, shellfish and prawns. In high-value seafood markets, even minor packaging failures can lead to significant product loss, making robust packaging a critical part of profitability.
SKINPro introduces an innovative vacuum skin packaging (VSP) system where a high-performance top web closely adapts to the product’s contours like a second skin, securing even sharp edges and complex shapes without compromising seals. By eliminating trapped fluids — a known cause of bacterial growth — the packaging helps maintain hygiene and extends refrigerated shelf life. Suitable for vertical or hanging retail display, SKINPro also offers enhanced transparency and gloss for better point-of-sale appeal.
For high-volume modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and vacuum applications, Multifol Extreme provides a flexible film family with outstanding sealing performance and puncture resistance. The film is approximately 30 % lighter than conventional structures while maintaining barrier integrity, offering logistics and sustainability benefits such as reduced material costs and a lower carbon footprint.
Both solutions reflect Sudpack’s broader strategy of combining technical innovation with sustainability, offering seafood processors packaging that protects products, enhances consumer appeal and supports circularity goals without compromising performance.
