The Indian Ice Cream Manufacturers’ Association (IICMA), Ahmedabad, has announced its new Managing Committee. The IICMA aims to provide a platform to share best practices, knowledge and strategies among its members to promote the growth of the ice cream industry in India.
The new committee was formed during the Managing Committee Meeting on October 30, 2020. Sudhir Shah, MD, Scoops Ice Cream, has been appointed as the president of the body. One of the most enterprising businessmen from Telangana, Shah is known for his leadership prowess and level-headed decision-making skills.
The key mandate of the body will be to counsel the IICMA and its members on the best strategies and practices needed to grow while navigating the unique challenges in the marketplace during the pandemic and its aftermath. The timing of this committee’s formation is especially critical as the industry begins to open up to a new market landscape.
Shah said, “Navigating the market during and after the global pandemic will be challenging, but it is also an opportunity for innovation in packaging, manufacturing and distribution to ensure the hygiene of the products and earning the trust of our consumers. Our new Managing Committee and its Advisory Committee will help IICMA build a roadmap to this goal while helping companies regain their foothold in the market and contribute to rebuilding our country’s economy.”
The new Managing Committee comprises of total 15 members. It has appointed R G Chandramogan, CMD, Hatsun Agro Product Ltd, and founder of Arun Ice Creams, as the chief advisor; Ashish Nahar, director, Fun India Dairy Ice Creams, as secretary; Chetan Bhalla, Gloria Ice Creams, as joint secretary; Pradeep Pai, MD, Hangyo Ice Creams, as treasurer; Yadish Chander, Cosmos Ice Creams, as joint treasurer; Anuvrat Pabrai, advisor and chief mentor, Pabrai's Fresh and Naturelle Ice Creams, as regional VP - East; Girish Pai, director, Natural Ice Cream, as regional VP - West; Charanjit Singh Basant, MD, Basant Ice Creams Pvt. Ltd, as regional VP - North; Balaraju Anantharamu, director, Dairy Classic Ice Cream Pvt. Ltd, as regional VP – South.
The other members of Managing Committee are Himanshu Kanwar, GM – Ice Creams at Hindustan Unilever; John Simon, director of Lazza Ice Cream; Chandra Kant Bhardwaj, sr VP - operations, Devyani Food Industries (Creambell Ice Cream); Arun Ramani, director of Ramani Ice Cream Co Limited (Top-n-Town) and L K Narasimhan, MD, Fab Dairy.
The Advisory Committee will include leaders from across the industry like Hasan Akbar Ali, MD, Health Food Product Pvt. Ltd (Frostee Ice Cream), Cuttack; Basudeo Lal Tahalani, MD, Golden Dairy Products Pvt. Ltd (Golden Ice Cream), Patna; and Harinder Kumar Budhiraja, MD, Lotus Ice Cream, Chandigarh.
