Our Bureau, New Delhi
Starbucks recently opened an outlet in Green Park, the plush New Delhi locality. This is the coffee chain’s 35th outlet in the capital. In addition to this, it has opened three stores in Kolkata. One is inside the Park Mansions on Park Street, the second is at South City Mall and the third is at Acropolis Mall.

Green Park
The Green Park outlet is the first of its kind in New Delhi that will bring to customers a heightened coffee experience with new and innovative brewing styles. At the heart of the bar is the White Eagle (manual espresso machine), which makes quality and consistency of the espresso shot its mission.

The Chemex is another example of a manual pour-over method. It is an elegant one-piece hourglass-shaped vessel, made of high-quality, heat-resistant glass. A distinguishing feature of the Chemex is its special filters, which remove more of the coffee oils, resulting in exceptionally clean coffee.

The Green Park store is also the first store in the capital to offer the Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew, a small-batch cold brew coffee which is slow-steeped and infused with nitrogen for a naturally sweet flavor and velvety-smooth mouthfeel.

The food at the store has been curated to complement the coffee experience. It includes Cottage Cheese Wrap, Almond Croissant, Vanilla Cruffin, Turkey Ham and Cheddar Cheese Potato Bake and Cream Cheese and Blueberry Muffin, among others.

Customers can seek out the Coffee Masters at the store for their unique coffee expertise, be it to find a new favourite beverage or a pairing suggestion, or to learn how to brew coffee at home.

The Coffee Master programme acknowledges the knowledge and skill of the barista with the special designation of the black apron after the barista passes written and taste tests.

Starbucks opened its first store in Delhi in 2012. As Tata Starbucks continues to grow in India, so does its commitment to be a positive force in contributing to the future success of the country.

With this store, the chain continues to create opportunities for local jobs and provide job skills and training to youth in the capital, as in all the other cities in India where it is present.

Kolkata
Tata Starbucks Private Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages Limited, made its maiden foray into Kolkata recently.

Delivering the iconic Third Place experience to customers and stewarding the company’s commitment to the eastern city, Tata Starbucks will open three stores, making it the seventh city for the company in India.

Sumitro Ghosh, chief executive officer, Tata Starbucks said, “We are honoured to bring Starbucks to Kolkata, a city that has always been known for its cultural heritage and grandeur.”

“Our aspiration is to delight our customers in Kolkata with the unique Starbucks Experience, that is built on three core fundamentals – our partners (employees), our stores and our coffee,” he added.

“The institution of the adda and the timeless passion it invokes in those who know of the city of Kolkata is inspiring. We hope to pay homage to the city’s inherent tradition by becoming a new adda for our customers in Kolkata,” Ghosh added.

The Starbucks flagship store, which is located inside the iconic 108-year-old Park Mansions on Park Street, will celebrate the brand heritage with a large depiction of the Starbucks Siren, created with local tapestry, in the many colours found on the streets of the West Bengal capital.

At the Starbucks store at South City Mall, ceramic artistry installments highlight its commitment to coffee farmers around the world, celebrating the first steps of the coffee journey.

The Acropolis Mall store features art inspired by traditional Indian motifs that showcases the culmination of the coffee journey, highlighting Starbucks’ barista craft.

The stores will offer customers an extensive range of Starbucks offerings, including Starbucks’ signature espresso-based beverages like cappuccinos, Americanos and lattes, as well as all-time favourites such as Caffe Mocha, Java Chip Frappuccino, Signature Hot Chocolate and Caramel Macchiato.

A range of Teavanaä teas, including Starbucks’ signature tea innovation – India Spice Majesty Blend, will be available for those who seek a modern and reimagined tea experience.

Customers in Kolkata will also get to try Starbucks Cold Brew, the latest in a series of coffee innovations highlighting the barista craft and high-quality coffee.

In addition to a food menu curated to complement the coffee experience, Starbucks is launching two new desserts celebrating the region’s signature ingredient – chenna.

While the Chomchom Tiramisu is a feather-light treat that brings together the traditional chomchom with the familiar Italian dessert tiramisu, the Chocolate Rossomalai Mousse combines the magic of the Bengali rossomalai with chocolate mousse.

Starbucks also brings to Kolkata its loyalty programme, My Starbucks Rewards, which provides members rewards and personalised benefits that increase with frequency of use.

When customers sign up for a My Starbucks Rewards account, they immediately begin earning stars for purchases at Starbucks.

As Tata Starbucks continues to grow, so does its commitment to be a positive force in contributing to the future success of India.

The company announced last fall its aspirations to be the employer of choice in India, with plans to double the number of partners (employees) over the next five years to 3,000.

It has a commitment to further increase the proportion of women in its workforce from an industry best of 25 per cent.
