Simon appointed as director of HR at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa

FnbNews Anitha Simon has been appointed as the director of human resources at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa. Bringing with her 13 years of experience in the service industry, she will take on a leadership position to create a positive environment, wherein the whole team is aligned with the goals of the hotel.

She has a background of repeated success in implementing best human resources practices and building successful HR department start-ups through her pre-opening experiences. Her diverse management styles, quick thinking and eloquent communication has exemplified her ability to build strong and lasting relationships.

In her current role, Simon will implement her excellent interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking, budget handling, counselling, and management skills to further boost the dynamic energy at the resort.  She will ensure applicable laws, regulations, brand policies at the hotel, and maintain effective communications at all levels of management.

She has completed her Master of Business Administration in Human Resources and Finance and Bachelor of Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics from Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.

Her professional journey began as an HR executive at Avatar International Chennai, and she worked her way across various international hospitality brands such as Traders Hotel, Chennai by Shangri-La, Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai, ITC Hotels Limited – Sheraton Park Hotel & Tower and Hilton Chennai, before taking on her new role at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa.

On her appointment, Shibil Malik, general manager, said, “We welcome Simon to our team at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa. He has an unwavering commitment to service excellence and she seamlessly implements best practices in HR.”

“I look forward to her continued support in building fruitful initiatives and overseeing team participation in maximum CSR activities. We stand with her in fortifying our joint vision for the hotel team,” he added.

In her spare time, Anitha enjoys watching movies and spending time with her six-year-old daughter. They both love to dabble in creative art work. She is gregarious, fun loving and a people’s person by nature.
