SIGEP Asia & Restaurant Asia 2026 to host Asia selection for Bakery World Championship & UIBC Congress

Singapore is set to become the epicentre of the global bakery and confectionery community as SIGEP Asia and Restaurant Asia 2026 announce two major co-located events the Asia Selection 2026 for the Bakery World Championship “Bread in the City” and the prestigious UIBC Congress 2026. Organised by IEG Asia and co-organised with the Restaurant Association of Singapore, the shows will take place from 15 to 17 July 2026 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands.
The Asia Selection 2026 will feature eight elite teams from across the Asia-Pacific region competing across multiple categories including bread making, pizza making, and Viennoiserie. Organised with the Singapore Bakery & Confectionery Trade Association (SBCTA) and endorsed by the Richemont Club International and Richemont Club Italy, the competition will determine two winners who will go on to represent Asia at the Bakery World Championship – Bread in the City 2027 in Rimini, Italy. A panel of distinguished industry experts from the Richemont Club International will evaluate the competitors on creativity, technique and craftsmanship.
Dr Ilaria Cicero, CEO of IEG Asia, said that bringing “Bread in the City” to Singapore underscores Asia’s expanding influence in global baking. Matteo Cunsolo, President of Richemont Club Italy, noted that the competition reflects the universal cultural significance of bread, while SBCTA President Forest Lim described the event as a defining moment for Asia’s bakery community.
Adding further significance to the 2026 edition, the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC) will hold its global Congress in Singapore from July 13 to 15, 2026. Representatives from 40 countries will gather to discuss industry trends and elect the World Baker and World Confectioner of the Year 2026.
The Asian bakery market, currently valued at USD 210.38 billion, is projected to reach USD 283 billion by 2035, driven by urbanisation, rising incomes and increasing demand for convenient baked goods making Singapore a timely host for these landmark events.
