Scandalous Foods reported a remarkable milestone this Ganpati season—selling 1,21,438 handmade modaks through its expanding restaurant partner network. To meet this festive surge, the company collaborated with a dedicated group of 16 women artisans from Nashik. Each modak was shaped by hand, with artisans producing an average of 450 pieces daily over 28 days.
The achievement highlights the company’s ability to blend tradition with scale, offering authentic festive products that meet high consumer demand without compromising on quality. By combining artisanal skill with a modern distribution model, Scandalous Foods has created a festive offering that is both rooted in heritage and ready for growth.
Sanket S, co-founder of Scandalous Foods, said, “We see numbers like 1.2 lakh modaks not just as a sales milestone but as proof that artisanal products can be scaled without losing authenticity. The Ganpati season is one of the toughest supply chain tests in Indian F&B, and we’ve shown that with the right model, tradition and efficiency can co-exist. For us, this is about building a blueprint for how Indian festivals can be served at scale while still staying true to craft, culture, and community. As we look ahead, our goal is to push these boundaries even further next season—expanding the reach of artisanal products while continuing to create meaningful impact for the communities that power them.”
