KA.01, a new rooftop bar and restaurant, opened at ibis Bengaluru City Centre recently. It is set to be a hotspot for those looking for affordable food and drinks, including signature cocktails and specialised dishes.

The bar has a capacity of 54 seats. Food is served out of a truck, and the drinks are prepared in a converted van.

It will take patrons on a tour to establishments across India that serve pocket-friendly fare even at odd hours. These include Bengaluru’s Richmond Road, Delhi’s Moolchand Paranthe Wala, Mumbai’s Bade Miyan and Kolkata’s Ballygunge.

“KA.01 embodies a clear idea starting with the name, to the look and feel of the place. We wanted guests to remember the joys of heading to their favourite eatery after a night of partying, where there was always good company and great food,” said Irfan Khatry, general manager, ibis Bengaluru City Centre.

“At KA.01 we have curated the best popular after-hours dishes from across India, served with amazing cocktails at affordable prices. Bengaluru sees an influx of people from across India moving here for work. Everyone misses the taste of home, and we are offering them exactly that - familiar food, in a welcoming ambience that will not burn a hole in your pocket,” he added.

The drinks are named after the different RTO zones in the Karnataka capital. These include KA.04 Yeshwantpur or a combination of vodka and filter coffee called KA.57 Shantinagar. The food - a celebration of the streets of India - includes Haleem, Kebabs, Mirchi Bhajji, Prawns Thokku, Tava Idli and Karandi Omelette, and are available in quarter, half and full plates.

Anthony Tamang, head chef, KA.01, scoured the country to find the perfect dishes to serve his patrons.

He said, “It is quite challenging in fact. Since we are serving popular after-hours food, there is a familiarity associated with the taste of every dish. We are proud to say that every dish is authentic, and our guests will love them. What makes it better is having your snack paired with the perfect drink in your hand.”
