Reliance Consumer Products, the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has partnered with Finnish confectionery company Fazer to introduce its premium chocolate range in the Indian market, marking another step in the conglomerate’s efforts to expand its presence in the fast-growing confectionery segment.
Under the partnership, Fazer’s internationally known chocolates will be manufactured and distributed in India by Reliance Consumer Products. The collaboration will leverage Reliance’s extensive retail and distribution network across the country, enabling Fazer’s products to reach a wide consumer base through modern trade, general trade and e-commerce platforms.
Founded in 1891, Fazer is one of Finland’s oldest food companies and is known globally for its confectionery brands, bakery products and plant-based food offerings. The company exports its products to more than 40 countries and its chocolate brands such as Karl Fazer Milk Chocolate and Geisha pralines have strong recognition in international markets.
Industry observers believe the collaboration could strengthen Reliance’s strategy to build a strong FMCG portfolio in India by partnering with global brands and bringing premium products to domestic consumers. The company has been steadily expanding its presence in packaged foods and confectionery through acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
India’s chocolate and confectionery market has been witnessing steady growth due to rising disposable incomes, urbanisation and increasing demand for premium indulgence products. Analysts note that international brands entering India are tapping into a large young consumer base and growing modern retail infrastructure.
For Fazer, the partnership provides an opportunity to enter one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets, while Reliance gains access to an established global chocolate brand that can strengthen its position in the premium confectionery category.
The collaboration is expected to help both companies expand their market reach and introduce new chocolate offerings tailored for Indian consumers in the coming years.
