Racket supplying artificially painted eggs as 'desi' unearthed in UP

In an interesting development, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department unearthed a racket supplying artificially painted eggs as 'desi' in Moradabad.
As per reports, the food safety officials conducted a raid in an egg godown in Rampur Doraha Barwala Majhra area in Moradabad and seized around 4,50,000 artificially coloured eggs along with 35,000 white eggs.
The value of the seized eggs was estimated around Rs 3.9 lakh. Consequently, the godown was seized and the chemical used to paint the eggs was also confiscated.
The officials termed it as a matter of grave concern, as the chemical paint poses serious threat to consumers' health and strict action is being planned against the food business involved in such act.
