Kitchen appliances brand Wonderchef recently organised a culinary show, ‘Wonderchef Kitchen Queen,’ attended by over 300 home chefs and food enthusiasts at Infiniti Mall Mumbai. The participants from across the city and age groups presented their unique and healthy festive delicacies to Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, who also judged the show.
The contest, saw an impressive turnout of home chefs, each vying for the prestigious title by presenting their culinary creations prepared using innovative techniques such as air-frying, baking, and steaming. The anticipation was palpable as Kapoor, accompanied by the Wonderchef team, carefully sampled and assessed each pre-cooked dish, evaluating them based on an array of essential parameters – health quotient, taste, innovation, and presentation.
Kapoor, while speaking to FnB News, said, "More and more people should cook at home if you want to make India healthy. Cooking at home is very important as people have started to order food from restaurants and all of that and it may not be the best choice. If you want to keep your family healthy, cook for yourself."
He added, "Any food contest we judge on its presentation, we do it on taste, we do it on its nutritional values and creativity as to what the thought is and newness of the dish. And it's a competition, everyone can do the same thing but who does the best in these criteria and also today we see convenience, time taken and there are other things that we consider which is the degree of difficulty. So it is a combination of all these factors that we judge it on."
The competition showcased a brilliant display of culinary artistry, and the ultimate title of ‘Wonderchef Kitchen Queen’ was awarded to Vaishali Poojari, whose dish, titled Steamed Modak, encapsulated the essence of health-conscious and flavourful cooking. Close behind, Divya Gupta secured the runner-up position, stunning the judges with her skillful preparation of the cake and cookies — a testament to her culinary innovation and mastery.
The crowned winner, Poojari, said, "Participating in 'Wonderchef Kitchen Queen' has been a personal milestone for me. Chef Sanjeev Kapoor's feedback has inspired my culinary passion and drive."
