The 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS-2025), commenced with a powerful emphasis on uncompromising quality standards for Indian seafood. Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, inaugurated the mega trade fair at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, heralding it as a pivotal event for the industry's global ambitions.
In his inaugural address, the minister highlighted that the pursuit of value addition must be inherently linked with maintaining the highest levels of product integrity. “Processing or adding value to seafood should not compromise its quality. Focusing on safety and quality, whether seafood or other food items, is crucial. Indian agriculture and seafood must reach international markets,” said Paswan.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Hall No. 6, began with a traditional lamp lighting and ribbon-cutting by the minister. He was welcomed by Pawan Kumar, president of the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), and Dr K N Raghavan, secretary general of SEAI, the organisers of the biennial show.
Kumar said, “This trade fair is far more than an exhibition; it is a strategic cornerstone for our industry's growth. With an impressive gathering of experts and 260 innovative stalls, we are creating a dynamic ecosystem for collaboration. This platform is essential—it empowers participants to forge valuable connections, share pivotal experiences, and receive direct guidance from visionaries. We are confident that the synergies created here will be instrumental in diversifying our markets and decisively strengthening our position globally.”
