Akshayakalpa Organic notes on National Milk Day, there is a need to highlight the organisation’s commitment to reimagining dairy for a healthier India.
As the nation celebrates the legacy of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the Father of the White Revolution annually on November 26, Akshayakalpa emphasises the importance of clean, nutritious, and responsibly produced milk in building a stronger future.
"By supporting organic farming practices and empowering farmer-entrepreneurs, the brand envisions a dairy ecosystem that nurtures both people and the planet," said Shashi Kumar, founder & CEO, Akshayakalpa Organic.
National Milk Day, highlights the importance of the dairy sector for nutrition, rural empowerment, and economic growth. "On this National Milk Day, as we honour India’s dairy heritage, it is clear that the role of milk is evolving. Families today are seeking dairy that supports strength, wellbeing, and everyday health. This shift towards functional, purpose-driven dairy is shaping the next chapter of the industry, ” he added.
"We see this change closely. Our recently launched 25g High Protein Milk is a step towards meeting the growing need for clean and functional nutrition. Building on this, we will soon introduce high-protein yoghurt and buttermilk, as we work to make healthier dairy choices accessible to more households," said Kumar.
This year’s theme, ‘Let’s Celebrate the Power of Dairy’, resonates deeply with Akshayakalpa. The power of dairy is not just in nourishment, it is in its ability to support farmers, strengthen ecosystems, and contribute to healthier communities. A core part of this belief lies in soil health, he said.
"Through our closed-loop organic farming system, we have been able to restore soil fertility over the years. By giving back to the land consistently, we have helped increase soil carbon from 0.5% to 2.5%, improving its capacity to hold water, support biodiversity, and grow more nutritious fodder," said Kumar.
Healthy soil leads to healthier fodder; when cows eat better, they produce cleaner, more wholesome milk — and that cycle of goodness ultimately reaches the families we serve every day. Today, we work alongside more than 2,700 organic farmers across Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu who are embracing sustainable, climate-conscious dairy practices that strengthen both livelihoods and resilience. Through our direct-to-home network, we reach over 3 lakh families, and with that reach comes responsibility, according to the Akshayakalpa chief.
"For us, dairy is not just food. It is a long-term commitment to health, nourishment, and a sustainable future from our farms to every household we serve," trailed off Kumar.
