For the first time in India, Choc-Ex, a trade fair for the chocolate sector, will take place at Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC), Goregaon, Mumbai on October 14 and 15, 2016. The event will be organised by Exponential Solutions and powered by Equinox Labs.

Vinita Nalawade, food safety and regulation manager, Equinox Labs, will emphasise the compliance perspective of such pivotal food business. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the authority governing the hygiene and licensing of food, has mandated certain Acts which have to be followed by every food business operator (FBO).

A business as robust as the chocolate industry, prophesied to exponentially grow, must be cautious about the hygiene and safety of millions. That is why Nalawade will speak on the imperativeness of regulations, food safety acts, efficient training for industry staff and testing products to obtain the FSSAI license.

Ashwin Bhadri, chief executive officer, Equinox Labs, said, “This event will allow exhibitionists and visitors to interact with each other to develop connections and increase brand equity, market value and strong sales in the market.”

He spoke about the importance of testing and complying with the rules stated by FSSAI. “A highly savoured food like chocolate should be monitored closely by those associated with its production, processing and distribution. Equinox Labs has, over the years, specialised in testing a wide spectrum of food products, bakery and confectionery included,” he said.

They will grace the event to highlight the importance of food safety and compliance with FSSAI Acts and Regulations. “My team will be present in Stall 8 in Hall 2 to help FBOs solve any difficulties related to food testing and compliance. While Nalawade will cover the food safety area, chef Vidita Kamat from Mezclaa-Blend It! will conduct a demo on how to make truffles. I am positive this event will help spread the much-needed awareness,” Bhadri added.
