Mondi is reinforcing its long-term collaboration with Pacapime Hungary to supply reliable corrugated packaging solutions for fresh fruit and vegetables across Central and Western Europe.

Pacapime Hungary operates a 42,000 sqm corrugated production facility in Mórahalom, with an annual capacity of up to 180 million sqm. The company serves customers in Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Western Europe, focusing primarily on packaging for apples, pears, tomatoes and bell peppers.

To meet the demanding requirements of fresh produce packaging—such as strength, durability and effective ventilation—Pacapime Hungary relies on Mondi’s ProVantage SmartKraft Brown containerboard grade. Featuring a 100% fresh fibre top ply, the grade delivers high surface integrity, consistent quality and dependable performance. Its strength properties support burst and tear resistance, while stable runnability ensures efficient processing and reliable box performance.

Tom Pissens, managing director at Pacapime Hungary, emphasised the importance of consistent kraftliner quality in fresh produce applications, noting that customers depend on robust packaging to protect products during transport and retail display.

Since 2024, the company has been led by Lynn and Tom Pissens, representing the fourth generation of the family in the corrugated packaging sector. With a lean and modern production setup, Pacapime Hungary is able to respond quickly to customer needs, particularly during peak agricultural seasons.

The partnership between Mondi and Pacapime Hungary is underpinned by technical cooperation, joint trials and data-driven optimisation to ensure packaging solutions remain aligned with evolving market demands. Sustainability remains central to the collaboration, with investments in water treatment, solar panels and certified processes supporting circular and resource-efficient packaging solutions that help reduce food waste and protect produce from field to shelf.
