MoFPI invites applications for post of Director, IIFPT

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has invited applications for the post of Director in Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
IIFPT is an autonomous research and educational institute under the MoFPI, Government of India, and the institute offers, B.Tech, M.Tech, PhD programmes and conducts research for identifying technologies for food processing, preserving, value addition, by- product utilisation through bio-processing, process and product development and food safety and quality.
The Ministry has issued a notice in this regard. Recently, the Government of India has also declared IIFPT as an institution of national importance along with NIFTEM, at Kundli in Haryana.
The decision, according to experts, will pave the way for including more subjects related to food processing along with research & development in the area of value addition, which are more suitable to needs of the industry as well as the students to get better employment opportunities.
According to the notice, the post will be filled up on tenure basis for a period of 5 years or up to superannuation at the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
The educational qualification needed to be eligible for the post include Doctoral Degree in Post-Harvest Technology, Food Process Engineering, Food Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Food Science, Food Science & Technology, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Biotechnology, Agriculture or Chemical Engineering /Dairy Engineering or similar qualifications preferably with work pertaining to food processing technologies or any other branch of sciences with expertise in food processing technologies.
And the role of the director shall be to plan, guide, direct, supervise, administer and coordinate academic research and extension activities of IIFPT.
