Misra appointed as executive chef at Westin Pushkar Resort and Spa

A seasoned culinary professional, Gaurav Misra has been appointed as the executive chef at The Westin Pushkar Resort and Spa. Bringing with him an extensive experience of 20 years in the hospitality industry, he has had a dynamic and proficient career in the culinary space.

In his new role, he will spearhead the entire kitchen operations; from crafting innovative menus, and ensuring the customers’ satisfaction, to managing and mentoring the culinary team.

Over the years, Misra has notched up innumerable achievements in the developments of gastronomical masterpieces, and has worked with diverse cultures in different countries with leading global luxury hotels, five-star deluxe hotels, luxury cruise liners and City Centre Hotels.

He possesses a vast proven experience of pre-opening hotel set-ups, which have contributed to his innate ability and skill set to be able to provide creative, innovative, enthusiastic and forward-thinking leadership in a team environment. His keen focus is on achieving continuous, improved business performance in the culinary sphere.

Misra began his career at Hotel Leela Palace, Goa, as a kitchen executive, and this served as a learning experience that taught him all the requisite fundamentals.

From preparation of cuisine, training employees, overseeing meal readiness for breakfast, lunch and dinner to assisting chefs with every aspect of daily restaurant operations, he mastered these learnings in his very first job.

At Carnival Corporation Ltd, Misra served as pastry chef on Carnival Cruise Lines, Miami. He  then went on to become chef-in-charge at Hotel Golden Tulip, Jaipur, Carlson Hotels. His stint at Hotel Radisson Blu, Indore, saw him in the role of executive pastry chef. Just prior to his current appointment, he worked at Hilton Jaipur as executive sous chef.

An MBA (PGP) from NIM Jaipur and a diploma of hotel management, IHMCT and AN, Ahmedabad, have equipped him with wide-ranging academic qualifications, which helped see him through to the leadership position he commands today.
