Mercure Hyd KCP celebrates sustainability programme Acting Here Planet 21

Mercure Hyderabad KCP celebrated the anniversary AccorHotels sustainability initiative Acting Here Planet 21. The hospitality group is deeply committed to sustainable value creation and plays an active role in giving back to planet and community.
The Acting Here Planet 21 programme endeavours to act for positive hospitality and have set some ambitious objectives to meet by 2020, structured around four strategic pillars - working with the employees, involving the clients, innovating with the partners, and involving local communities.
Mercure Hyderabad KCP celebrated the programme by conducting week-long activities which focussed on the environment, health and wellness and community welfare.
The celebrations began with the plantation drive within the hotel premises to maintain a green milieu around the property. The hotel employees also donated clothes and necessary items for the NGO (non-governmental organisation) Goonj, which works for the welfare of the poor and needy.
Mercure Hyderabad KCP team participated in the SoapforHope programme under which hotel donated used soaps to Nireekshana, an NGO, for further recycling and reprocessing the waste bars to be converted into new soaps. These new soap bars are then distributed among the local community for maintaining better hygiene.
An internal competition was organised for the employees with a focus on best out of waste and ideas to reduce food wastage. The employees participated actively in these competitions.
Mercure Hyderabad KCP hosted a special healthy breakfast and lunch buffet at Cayenne over a three-day period. The entire menu was prepared by using healthy organic ingredients. As a remembrance for guests, seeds and recycled bags were given as takeaways during the Planet 21 Week.
Speaking at the occasion, Soumitra Pahari, hotel manager, Mercure Hyderabad KCP, said, “We are very happy to celebrate the AccorHotels initiative Planet 21 week. We aim to create awareness on sustainable development by mobilising our employees, guests, and partners to actively contribute to the cause.”
“We, at Accor India, is also deepening our focus on preserving the ecosystems in which our hotels operate and working towards positive hospitality. We are constantly focussing on creating an ecological balance and working towards the betterment of the communities and society,” he added.
