The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence-Skills (CoE-Skills) in the agriculture sector by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. The recognition is expected to strengthen the institute’s role in agricultural skill development, capacity building and entrepreneurship promotion.
The Certificate of Recognition was formally presented to MANAGE at a ceremony held at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, on November 2 ,2026. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, presented the certificate to the institute. The recognition will remain valid for three years.
Established in 1987 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, MANAGE is an autonomous organisation dedicated to strengthening the agricultural extension system in the country. It provides training, consultancy, research and policy support in agricultural extension, while also promoting innovative approaches to capacity building and entrepreneurship development.
The institute offers several educational programmes, including the Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-warehousing Management (PGDAWM), Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) and a two-year regular Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri-Business Management). Through its training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives, MANAGE works to equip agricultural professionals, extension functionaries and aspiring entrepreneurs with relevant skills and competencies.
The CoE-Skills recognition will enable the institute to expand its engagement in the skilling sector, which is considered important for agricultural growth and rural entrepreneurship. It will also strengthen MANAGE's contribution to the government's vision of developing a skilled, competent and entrepreneurial workforce.
The initiative was developed under the leadership of Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, IAS, Director General, MANAGE, and Joint Secretary (Extension). The team involved in the initiative included Dr K C Gummagolmath, Dr Veenita Kumari and Dr Shalendra.
Commenting on the recognition, Agarwal described the empanelment as a significant milestone reflecting the institute's commitment, dedication and high standards in capacity building. He said the recognition also brought greater responsibility to strengthen programme execution standards and enhance MANAGE's contribution to the country's skill development mission.
The recognition reinforces MANAGE's commitment to advancing agricultural extension, strengthening institutional capabilities and promoting entrepreneurship while contributing to the development of a skilled agricultural workforce.
