Our Bureau, New Delhi
Lite Bite Foods, one of India's largest Food and Beverage (F&B) operators, has been selected as the master concessionaire for Indore, Kannur, Kozhikode and Bhubaneshwar airports, following intense bidding, rolled out by the airport authorities over the past few months.

The company is also expanding its footprints at Ahmedabad and Bengaluru airports. Responsible for the operation and management of the food and beverage (F&B) outlets, it plans to invest Rs 60 crore within the first six months, and expects to begin operations by July this year.

The Indian traveller’s expectations from a regular air-travel experience has evolved. There is no single profile of a traveller and no-cookie-cutter approach that satisfies all.

Thus, to satisfy the discerning palate of every Indian traveller, Lite Bite Foods will offer a large portfolio, of diverse food options, including some of its most renowned brands such as Street Foods by Punjab Grill, Baker Street, Clink Bar and Naashto, as well as franchisee outlets for popular fast food brands such as KFC and Subway.

While aggressively bidding for newer avenues to accelerate its growth story, Lite Bite Foods, continues to fortify its presence across existing locations. Lite Bite Foods is also scaling its operation at the Mumbai, Pune and Jammu airports, and aspires to become a leading Indian multi-national company (MNC) within the next five years.

The boom in the Indian aviation sector due to the substantial increase in air travel, along with the Indian government’s commitment to improve connectivity and travel quality across India, offers an extremely lucrative opportunity for the F&B sector.

With a vision to emerge as India’s largest F&B player within the travel segment, Lite Bite Foods, has made significant strides to spread its wings across the busier airports, such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Goa and Mumbai, where it owns nearly 80 per cent of the outlets.

To further diversify its portfolio, the company now aims to operate across a large number of airports across the emerging Tier-II cities.

Commenting on the launch, Rohit Aggarwal, director, Lite Bite Foods Group, said, “Air travel in India is no longer a medium to get from one place to another. It is an all-inclusive experience.”
“Irrespective of the reason for the journey, every traveller expects to have his or her needs catered to in the best possible manner and the retail and F&B options remain integral to this experience,” he added.

“Thus, giving F&B brands an opportunity to deliver an exclusive brand experience and strengthen brand recall. The traveller from the emerging Tier-II cities in India is also evolving and offers an immense opportunity to build brand awareness and loyalty,” Aggarwal said.

“As an established player within the travel F&B sector, we hope to leverage our existing expertise and credibility to not only enter the Tier-II segment, but also continue to aggressively grow to eventually lead the segment by creating a benchmark that does not simply match, but also exceeds the expectation of every traveller across India,” he added.

Commenting on the launch, Amit Burman, chairman, Lite Bite Foods Group, said, “Lite Bite Foods, with its extensive portfolio that consists of some of the most iconic Indian F&B brands, is already an established player within the traditional F&B segment.”

“However, true to its culture of innovation, Lite Bite Foods is constantly seeking new avenues and channels to grow. The fast-growing Indian aviation sector offers a lucrative opportunity to further strengthen the brand by developing a new category of F&B outlets across airports,” he added.

“As one of the initial players within this category, we have already secured a strong foothold in the busier metro and Tier-I markets and are now looking to leverage our first-mover advantage to further diversify our portfolio and penetrate the fast-emerging Tier-II markets that offer a substantial opportunity to enhance both revenues as well as brand value,” Burman said.

Operating in India since 2008, Lite Bite Foods has grown to become one of the most dynamic players in F&B travel retail. With more than 100 outlets, Lite Bite Foods owns and operates one of the largest food retail space in the country.
